Create a Shared Wedding Photo Album
Design the album around contribution, viewing, and long-term ownership instead of treating every shared gallery as the same.
Short answer
Create one event album, decide separately who can upload, view, moderate, and download, and give guests one stable contribution link. After the collection period, remove accidental uploads, download the originals, and make a smaller curated album for long-term sharing.
Decide who contributes and who views
A contributor adds files; a viewer browses them; a moderator decides what becomes visible. Those roles need not have the same access. For example, invite every guest to contribute, let only the couple review incoming pictures, then open a selected gallery to the family. Check whether your chosen service supports those separate permissions before inviting people.
Send an invitation that says what the link allows: “Add your photos here; only we can see submissions for now.” Later, send a viewing invitation and explain whether downloads are allowed. If you are still choosing between an album, folder or message, compare the wedding photo sharing methods first.
Choose an album access model

Write the chosen model into your guest instructions. People should know whether their uploads become visible to everyone with the link.
Organize around the event
For a single-day wedding, one collection is usually easier for guests than separate ceremony, cocktail, dinner, and dance-floor links. Organize after download using capture times or host-created categories. For a multi-day celebration, separate albums can make sense when each event has a different audience or access link.
Avoid asking guests to rename files. Preserve originals and add organization in the host layer.
Plan moderation without slowing contribution
Assign one trusted person to check that uploads are arriving and remove obvious accidents. If pictures feed a live screen, moderation needs to happen before display. If the gallery is private and viewed only later, the review can be less immediate.
Close and preserve the album
- Announce a final contribution date.
- Export every original file and verify the archive opens.
- Keep the unedited export as a master copy.
- Create a curated viewing album without deleting the master.
- Store a second backup outside the original service.
Document the service's upload, viewing, and deletion dates. “Available for a year” can refer to different clocks, so confirm when each one starts.

What is a shared wedding photo album?
It is one event collection where multiple guests can contribute pictures and, depending on the service, view other submissions. It may be a dedicated wedding gallery or a general cloud album.
Should guests be allowed to see every upload?
That depends on the event. Immediate viewing can make the album social, while host review first gives the couple more control over private, duplicate, or unsuitable images.
How should a shared album be backed up?
Download the original files before the service's retention deadline, preserve an untouched master copy, and keep at least one additional backup in a separate storage location.
