How to Use Dropbox for Wedding Photo Sharing
Collect guest photos without Dropbox accounts, check your storage, and decide whether an upload folder or a wedding gallery fits your day.

Set up the file request
- Create a clearly named destination folder.
- Open Dropbox File requests and create a new request.
- Describe the accepted media and select the destination.
- Copy the request link and turn it into a QR code.
- Test an anonymous upload before printing.
Dropbox states that Basic, Plus, and Family file requests accept files up to 2 GB each, while Professional and business plans can accept up to 250 GB per file. Your available Dropbox space still matters, so confirm quota before the event.

Will your Dropbox have enough room?
Enter your own assumptions. The starting values are an example, not measured guest behavior. This estimates photos only; add space for videos and files already in your account.
800 photos ≈ 4 GB
Calculation: guests × photos per guest × MB per photo ÷ 1,000. Check your remaining storage, not just the total size of your Dropbox plan.
Give guests one clear upload instruction
We’d love to see the photos you took at our wedding. Open [file-request link], choose the pictures you want to send, and follow the upload prompts. You don’t need a Dropbox account. Please send them by [date]. Only we can see the files submitted through this request.
Replace the placeholders and check the permissions before sending. On a phone, a clickable link is easier to use than a QR image displayed on that same phone. Dropbox’s guest instructions explain the upload form and confirmation.
What Dropbox does well
Files arrive in storage the couple already understands, guests do not need an account for the request, and guest submissions are not exposed to one another. This is a solid fit for upload-only collection and a host who will curate elsewhere.
What it does not provide
A file request does not create a wedding-facing gallery, social feed, or live slideshow. The host must organize presentation separately. The page also looks like a general file transfer, so printed instructions should name the couple and explain why guests are uploading.

Can wedding guests upload to Dropbox without an account?
Yes, when the couple creates a Dropbox file request. Joining and contributing to a normal shared folder is a different workflow and requires a Dropbox account.
Can a Dropbox file request collect wedding videos?
Yes, subject to the account's file-request size limits and available storage. Test a representative phone video before relying on it.
Can guests view one another's uploads in a file request?
No. A file request is an upload inbox, not a shared wedding gallery. This can be a privacy advantage or a presentation disadvantage.
Can I make a QR code for a Dropbox wedding file request?
Yes. Create the file request first, then encode its upload link in a QR code. A QR code for a normal shared folder does not change that folder's account requirements. Test the exact printed link while signed out.
