When Joy photo sharing needs a separate guest gallery

Use Joy’s current album instructions

Joy’s Shared Photo Albums documentation describes a share link or QR code, account-free contribution and up to 1,000 photos at no charge per event. It says the album must be public with Guest Uploads enabled, and people with the link can see its photos. Check your own dashboard because other Joy pages describe an older app-based photo workflow.

The practical difference is how collection and viewing connect

Some couples want contributors to browse the album immediately. Others want to collect everything privately, review it and share a selection later. Decide which experience you intend before comparing providers.

WeddingPhoto App lets guests submit files while gallery viewing remains private. Hosts can also require approval before uploads appear in a public guest gallery. “Public” here means accessible through the event link; the link can be forwarded. These controls do not turn the gallery into an invite-only identity check.

Stay with your existing setup when it meets the brief

If your Joy album accepts the files you need, its allowance fits and you are comfortable with contributors viewing the collection, another service may add work without solving a problem. Use the same collection link on your website and cards so guests know which destination is current.

Test whether the specific media you want to collect is supported by the album workflow. Do not assume a website’s general video capability establishes the limits of its guest upload form.

Choose a separate collection service for a specific reason

A dedicated service can make sense when collection needs to be independent of the wedding website or when its control settings fit your plan better. 1. Create a small test album in the service you already use.
2. Open the guest link without a host session and contribute a test image.
3. Check whether that guest can see other contributions before you review them.
4. Repeat with the proposed alternative and compare the result.
5. Choose one guest collection link, update your cards and retain a backup of any earlier uploads.

Use one photo link with your existing wedding website

There is no need to rebuild invitations or move RSVPs to try a separate gallery. Keep those arrangements in Joy. Once you have chosen the photo service, use its link in the photo instructions you send guests and on your printed QR cards. Save any earlier uploads before replacing the old collection link.
