Start with the venue's usable capacity
Ask the venue for a floor plan showing exits, service routes, fixed furniture and accessibility requirements. The canvas here is a planning sketch, not a scale drawing or a safety approval. A table that can physically hold ten chairs may be more comfortable with eight once place settings are added.
Import a list without retyping names
Paste one guest per line. You can copy three columns from a spreadsheet in this order: name, group, meal. Tabs separate the columns. Each row becomes a separate guest, so two people with the same name remain distinct. Check for duplicates before assigning seats.
Drag on desktop, choose on mobile
Drag a guest card onto a table or choose a destination from their dropdown. Drag the table's move handle to rearrange the room. Position sliders offer the same adjustment without dragging. A full table refuses another guest; decreasing capacity can reveal an overfull table that needs review.
What does automatic seating do?
It assigns only unassigned guests to available tables, preferring the least-filled proportionally. It does not understand relationships, meal needs or who should sit together. Group labels are notes for your review, not hidden seating rules. Existing assignments stay in place.
Prepare two different handovers
Guests need names and table names. The venue may also need meal notes and counts. Guest view hides private group and meal notes, while the CSV export includes them. Review who receives that file. The printout includes the table sketch and assignment list; use the venue's plan for measured spacing.
How do I keep a backup?
The editor saves on this browser. Download a JSON backup before making major changes; import that file to restore it or move to another device. Import replaces the current plan after confirmation. There is no cloud synchronization or live collaboration.
What comes next?
Check the attendance estimate against actual RSVPs, coordinate the reception order and place a photo-upload card where seated guests can read it.
